The Council Grove 19th Annual Youth Turkey Hunt was held on Saturday, April 2. This year’s hunt sought to accommodate area youth ages 11-17. A beautiful spring morning greeted six eager area youngsters the morning of the hunt. By days end, all of the participants were fortunate to see or hear wild turkeys. Four of the participants harvested a turkey while others enjoyed encounters with their quarry but were unable to harvest. For those fortunate to harvest, the event was memorable, because two of them harvested their first wild turkey.

Officer Jimmie Blackburn is pictured with new K9 Officer Abby. Abby replaces K9 Cooper who had to retire due to medical issues and was re-homed to a trainer in the Kansas City area. Abby is a one-and-a-half year old Belgian Malinois from the Netherlands and is trained in both drug detection and tracking.

TIPTOZ TEAM -- The Tiptoz Dance Company Shine Team recently competed at regional competitions in Wichita and Kansas City, with a number of first place finishes to add to their accomplishments. The team consists of dancers from Council Grove, Wamego and Marion.
