Cemetery Wall Played Important Part In Council Grove Becoming County Seat

Danny Weeks of Wildorado, Texas, a small town west of Amarillo, sent us the enclosed article, which was written by the late Doris Cress and published in the Council Grove Republican on July 7, 1982. Weeks has heard about the current repair of the Greenwood Cemetery wall and told us of his ancestors’ involvement in the original construction. Weeks said, “Charles Krause was my Great Great Granduncle who helped build the wall. His sister was Johanna Krause, my Great Great Grandmother They came over from Germany on the same ship. They, along with his family, are buried in Wilsey Cemetery. I was born in Council Grove and graduated in 1969, most of my family still lives there. My cousin is Kenny Yadon who lives in Council Grove.”
