Council Grove High School’s wrestling Braves will showcase their 2023-24 versions at the annual inter-squad Blue/Gold team scrimmage Tuesday night in Braves Gym at 6:30 pm.

The Council Grove High School Cheerleaders and Bravettes placed well in a highly competitive cheer and dance at the weekend’s KSHSAA competition. The Cheerleaders enjoyed a top ten finish, placing 10th out of 22 teams and the Bravettes placed 3rd against 18 teams in a very competitive 123A division.
Cottonwood Falls, Strong City and Chase County Rural Water District 1 will be happy to hear that the water table is rising. Water conservation is still a concern and important, but it appears the aquifer is replenishing itself. The report comes from long time Rural Water Board Member Kevin Collins who talked with the Council Grove Republican on Thursday. The newspaper had tried to reach water operator/manager Matt Markley who will be out of the office for a couple of weeks. Markley asked Collins to give us the update we were seeking in his absence.
