On Nov. 11, Tanner Schneider, 26, Council Grove, was driving a 2010 Nissan Frontier eastbound on US 56 when a deer entered the highway from the north ditch. Cassandra Diebold, 24, was a passenger. Powell’s Towing towed the vehicle. Front bumper and hood damage was reported. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The City of Council Grove’s City Council met Tuesday night at City Hall for its second meeting of the month.
Wildcat Construction Co., Inc of Wichita along with KDOT, Benesch Engineering and Wildcat Construction’s subcontractors were on hand for the ceremonial ribbon cutting that preceded today’s official opening of KS 177. It was a cold day with the wind powerful and biting but the excitement and the satisfaction and passion for the project was evident for those who step forward to say a few works about a project that was first seriously talked about in 2012 and 2013 in public meetings where safety improvements were discussed.
Two different articles last week reported the same findings. There is an alarming decline in local newspapers. The challenges other newspapers face are familiar to the Council Grove Republican.
SOS announced Thursday that Mickey Edwards will be the organization’s next Executive Director. Edwards is only the third Executive Director in the nearly 50-year history of SOS and is stepping into this role following the retirement of current Executive Director, Connie Cahoone.
