Braves Striving To Bounce Back After Heartbreaking Loss

The #8 Braves football team suffered a heartbreaking defeat at #5 Osage City on Friday and must bounce back quickly to return to the playoffs for a third year in a row. The top four teams in the district qualify for the playoffs before re-seeding occurs.
Your Council Grove Republican – Did You Know?

As we ponder our role in the community during National Newspaper Week, it is important to share the importance of our local youth newspaper carriers. I know many men in their 70s who speak fondly of their time as carriers for the Council Grove Republican. One man that had been a carrier more than 60 years ago, proudly, and without delay, folded the newspaper in the familiar square that caused the paper to be heavier in the wind and sail to their requested spot on porches like a miniature frisbee. Newsprint is narrower now, so newspapers are rolled with rubber bands to accomplish the same purpose.
