The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at 9 a.m. Commissioners David Fox and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.

The Council Grove Lady Braves varsity golf team secured a strong second-place finish Wednesday at the Atchison Maur Hill-Mt. Academy Meet, which was held at the North Topeka Golf Club. Competing against several schools, the Lady Braves posted a team score of 198, just one stroke behind Marysville, who claimed first with a score of 197. The host school, Maur Hill-Mt. Academy, finished in third with a team total of 248.
LADY BRAVES CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATE TITLE TEAM -- Council Grove High School will recognize the 40th anniversary of the 1984 Class 4A State Volleyball Championship Team during the CGHS Invitational Tournament here Saturday. The team will be announced before the start of bracket play. In state action for the 1984 Lady Braves, they ended Concordia’s 50 game winning streak and their 35-0 record, by handing the Lady Panthers their first loss defeating them 15-10, 15-12 in the semi finals, then they breezed by Andale 15-6, 15-9 to become state champions. The team went 27-11 on the season.
