From The Dale Linn Collection

The diary of a horse named Dick (March 23, 1905 article — transcribed word for word) Editor’s note: Historian Dale Linn surmises that Abner Cutler, Dick’s final owner, was believed to be the east-side gunsmith whose shop once stood on the southeast corner near what is now the Post Office Oak in Council Grove. He wonders if Cutler and his wife may have lived on Hog Island, the community referenced in the article where many local children learned to ride the old horse Dick.
