The Morris County Commissioners convened as the County Board of Canvassers on December 2 to resolve several tie write-in races from the November 4, 2025, general election. Commissioners Jim Barber, David L. Fox and Wayne Kohler met with County Counselor Bill Kassebaum and County Clerk/Election Officer Chelsey Schmidt to review the results.
Symphony in the Flint Hills, the organization that for 20 years brought statewide attention to the Flint Hills Tallgrass Prairie through concerts, education, and community programming, has formally concluded its operations by awarding its remaining funds to four nonprofits carrying forward similar work. Board members personally visited each recipient to deliver the final gifts.
There will be a commodity (TEFAP) distribution tomorrow at the Council Grove Rec Center (old armory) at 1020 East Main Street.

The USD 417 Board of Education met Monday evening, December 8, 2025, in the Council Grove Junior/ Senior High School Auditorium. The meeting included public comment, a building tour, a detailed review of instructional initiatives, and a unanimous vote to appoint Travis Schweger to the District 1 Board of Education seat previously held by Jay Troxell.
