The Council Grove Braves swept a doubleheader against the Marion Warriors on Tuesday, April 1, in Marion, overcoming an early deficit in game one and dominating offensively in game two. In the opener, the Braves rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat Marion 8-5. Key contributions came from the bottom of the batting order, with Konner Farr, Hayden Buttrey, and Bradley Doornbos combining for four hits, four runs, and an RBI. After trailing 5-1 in the fourth, Council Grove surged ahead in the sixth, capitalizing on errors and timely hits—Farr’s RBI single and multiple defensive miscues by Marion fueled the comeback. Braun Frye struck out nine in five innings to earn the win, and Maxton Villalobos secured the save.
The Council Grove Republican’s Easter Shopping Trail Contest started Tuesday, April 1 and runs through Monday, April 14, 2025. This fun scavenger-type contest has become an annual favorite and takes the shopper into participating merchants to look for an Easter Codeword such as Jelly Bean, Chocolate, Peep, Resurrection, etc. The contest entices contestants, young and older, to visit the sponsoring establishments to see what is new and exciting. There is no cost to play the game.
The Council Grove Braves golf team is gearing up for the 2025 season with a strong roster of student-athletes and a full schedule of competitive meets.
A legislative forum was held on Saturday, featuring Kansas District 17 Senator Mike Argabright and 68th District Representative Nate Butler.
