Shilling Construction Company is scheduled to start its repaving project of Main Street on Wednesday, May 3. The project will be done in phases, with each phase expected to take 3 days. Anticipate delays and expect to find alternative parking places for downtown businesses during the affected days.
The Council Grove High School Braves golf squad took fourth place out of 14 teams Thursday at St. Marys, with Sabetha, Seneca and Rossville finishing first, second and third.
A summary of the Tuesday Morris County Commissioner meeting included discussion on the status of the Dunlap River Bridge. The bridge, which crosses the Neosho River, will be closed in approximately 2 weeks for demolition and cut over to the newly constructed bridge. It is anticipated that the road will be closed for approximately four weeks.
A bald eagle in the Elmdale area of Chase County was injured during last Wednesday’s EF2 tornado. Kansas Wildlife and Parks located the eagle, who had a broken wing with bones exposed, and transferred it to Operation Wildlife in Linwood, Kansas about 113 miles away.
