The September 20 headcount at USD 417 was up four students from the opening day headcount, with 776 total students being counted across the district. The opening day headcount saw 772 students being tallied across USD 417 facilities.
The Kansas High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) has announced new football classifications for the 2022-2023 season. The new classifications will see the Council Grove Braves Football team move to the 2A classification next year.
The total population of Morris County fell in the 2020 census.
The Council Grove Braves Cross Country team ran in the Blue races at the Rim Rock Farm High School Classic on Saturday at Lawrence, which featured 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and out of state schools. Coach Joshua Gant described Rim Rock as the premier meet in Kansas and the best course in the nation. The team would come away with a first place finish for Kodi Downes and a fifth place finish for Jordyn Picolet, as well as personal records for nine of the 15 runners and season best times for five of the six that didn’t set new personal records.
