The Morris County Commissioners met on Tuesday, September 21 , 2021 at 9 a.m. Commissioner Wayne Kohler was present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
OLD SETTLERS DAY -- Old Settlers Day returned to Alta Vista over the weekend to celebrate 134 years of the town’s history and featured food, games, demonstrations, vendors and a parade. The day also featured a lunch at the Alta Vista Mercantile provided by K-Construction, a quilt auction and an alumni banquet at Prairie Heights Elementary School. Ag Heritage Park founder Hazel Zimmerman, celebrating her 90th birthday (top left, front), served as the Old Settlers Day Parade Grand Marshal. POISON THE PANTHERS -- The junior class at Council Grove High School had the winning float at Friday’s homecoming parade with their theme of “Poison the Panthers.” The Braves would take on Concordia for their homecoming contest, losing 83-8. The team will be in action on Friday at Marysville.
The Council Grove Lady Braves Volleyball team was in action on Saturday at the Herington Tournament, putting together a solid string of wins in pool play and taking third place following a tough loss against Herington.
