Burdick’s Rodeo Surprise: The History Of Bulldogger Bill Pickett

The little town of Burdick is located in the south west corner of Morris County. In spite of the fact that it was visited by a group of Russian Mennonites in the early 1880’s, they were not interested in the area and moved on west. A group of Swedish people arrived in 1884 through 1887 and these were the ones who saw an area that they wanted to call their new world home. Soon schools and churches and other signs of civilization began to spring up. Crops were planted and it was discovered that wheat prospered in this soil on the north edge of the Flint Hills.
