SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS--Mark Andres (left) was awarded the Iva and Jim Roe Masonic Scholarship ($515) and the H.W. Wilkerson Morris County scholarship ($274). Nash Cooper (center) was awarded the Dwight Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star memorial scholarship ($600) and the H.W. Wilkerson Morris County Masonic Scholarship ($1900. Claire Bankes (right) received H.W. Wilkerson Morris County Masonic Scholarship ($790). They were presented their awards at the Dwight Lodge Hall on Saturday, May 7. Other winners not present were Myles Gant and Chancey Johnson. Both received H.W. Wilkerson Masonic scholarships of $790.
The Superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol, Colonel Herman Jones, provided the program for the Council Grove Rotary Club on Wednesday, May 11. The KHP mottos is Service, Courtesy and Protection. Jones said KHP provides protection for both citizens and the ones they protect. Law enforcement is a partnership, and the profession is a calling. KHP employees approximately 750 people, with about 450 of those being troopers.
Kaitlin Johnson (center) was recently the recipient of the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education Grant, sponsored by P.E.O. Chapter H of Council Grove. Johnson is pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Nursing for Nurse Educators at Fort Hays State University and plans to apply for an assistant professorship role at Emporia State University’s Department of Nursing.
