MASTER TEACHER

MASTER TEACHER -- Council Grove High School math instructor Kent Gant has been named the 2022-2023 Master Teacher for USD 417. Master Teacher awards are granted to those who have taught in Kansas for five or more years and who have been seen to be an exceptional role model for staff, students and the community. The award selection is approved by a committee and voted upon by peers within the school district. Gant will now have the opportunity to be included in the nomination process hosted by Emporia State University.

TOP GRADUATES -- Cooper Askins (left) and Aleah Weaver graduated on Monday evening as the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Council Grove Junior High School eighth grade class. Sixty-six students were promoted during the ceremony at Braves Gym and will move on to Council Grove High School as the Class of 2026.

STATE BOUND

STATE BOUND -- The 4x100 Meter Relay team of (l-r) Ethan Burton, Joey Andres, Ahmed Mansaray and Jace Goodman qualified for state on Friday, finishing fourth at Regionals with a time of 43.78 and breaking the school record of 44.19 set in 1993 by the team of Brent Moses, Russell Wood, Bobby Reddick and Mike Casey. The team and other state qualifiers will compete at the State Track Meet at Cessna Stadium at Wichita State University on May 27 and 28.
