County Purchases License Plate Reader, Agrees To Winter Maintenance Of Dam Road

At the Tuesday, December 26 meeting of the Morris County Commission, Morris County Sheriff Jay Simecka and Deputy Alex Wooden visited with the commissioners regarding an automatic license plate reader. Deputy Wooden has received donations in support of purchasing an automatic license plate reader 4 camera system for the deputy and K9 Kimber’s patrol vehicle. To date, Morris County residents have donated a total of $11,625.00. The camera system, mounting brackets, and software system cost $12,679.40; the annual maintenance cost is $2,100.00. The Morris County Attorney has already agreed to pay the annual maintenance cost of $2,100.00 from the Diversion Funds. Sheriff Simecka requested approval to purchase the automatic license plate reader with the donated funds, with the remaining amount of $1,054.40 to be paid from the Sheriff’s Drug & Asset Forfeiture Funds. The Commissioners accepted the donations in the total amount of $11,625.00, approved the purchase of the automatic license plate reader and agreed that the remaining amount of $1,054.40 shall be paid from the Sheriff’s Drug & Asset Forfeiture Funds.
