In Friday’s part one of Council Grove’s Water Department Then and Now, the history of the water system’s structure was reviewed. Water Department Superintendent Derrick Craige said that the original Roundhouse, built in 1887 by the Inman Brothers of New Your City is still in existence and functional. Another part of the plant is underneath the floor.
POTTAWATOMIE CO. (WIBW) - A technical issue with a statewide system has put a halt to all new driver’s and motor vehicle licenses in the Sunflower State.
On Dec. 11, Edwin Metcalfe, 66, Council Grove, was southbound on Dunlap Rd when he fell asleep, left the roadway and went into the east ditch. His 2013 Chevy Silverado struck a tree sending it airborne and rotating 180 degrees before coming to test on the frame facing north. Mr. Metcalfe complained of neck pain and soreness. He was wearing a seatbelt and was evaluated by EMS at the scene and released. Powell’s Auto Body removed the vehicle from the scene.
You are invited to join in services at the Torn Veil Church, at Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, beginning Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6 p.m. There will be snacks and hot/cold drinks. There will be music, a Spirit filled message and fellowship. Everyone is also invited to church services each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. There will be having a regular scheduled service this day as well. The church is located at 219 N 7th in Wilsey at the former Methodist church building.
