Every year the Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association coordinates the nominations and surprise awarding of the Best of Council Grove Awards.
The 2024 Morris County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, February 7, in the Council Grove Jr/Sr High School Auditorium. Participants went 15 rounds and 81 words to determine a winner. Colton Elsen, 8th grader at Council Grove Junior High/Senior High was the champion speller. Abbigale Davis, 6th grader at Prairie Heights Elementary School placed second. Hannah Peterson, 7th grader at CGJH/SH placed third.
