Colton Elsen Wins 2024 Morris County Spelling Bee

The 2024 Morris County Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, February 7, in the Council Grove Jr/Sr High School Auditorium. Participants went 15 rounds and 81 words to determine a winner. Colton Elsen, 8th grader at Council Grove Junior High/Senior High was the champion speller. Abbigale Davis, 6th grader at Prairie Heights Elementary School placed second. Hannah Peterson, 7th grader at CGJH/SH placed third.

A 2023 survey from the National Retail Federation found consumers expected to spend $25.9 billion on Valentine’s Day, up from $23.9 billion in 2022. Forecasters suspect spending is likely to increase this year as well.
