FLAG RETIREMENT -- The Burnley Memorial Library in Cottonwood Falls is now a host location for an official U.S. Flag Retirement Box. The box was provided by the National Association of Counties (NACo) for the proper disposal of worn American flags. Since 2016, NACo has provided more than 2,000 counties across the country with flag retirement boxes.
Approximately 50 residents from the Council Grove City Lake were in attendance at the Tuesday meeting of the Council Grove City Council to discuss annexation issues that have been under consideration by the council for the last several years.
LEAGUE CHAMPIONS -- The Council Grove 9u Baseball team competed this season in the Ken Berry 9u/10u Division. The team went 13-1 during the regular season and finished in first place as League Champions. They were the number one seed in the post-season, going 4-1 in the League Tournament and finished the season as with a 13-8 win over the number two seed to become champions. QUICKDRAW -- A competitor in the Gunfight on the Santa Fe Trail performs a quickdraw with her revolver Saturday. The quickdraw contest featured gunfighters trying to see who was faster at popping a balloon by firing a blank round.
