More Kansas Schools Embrace Four-Day Weeks

TOPEKA — Seventy-seven school buildings in approximately 29 districts across the state have implemented a four-day week this year, up from 60 in 2023.
Last Saturday, February 24, District 17 Kansas Senator Jeff Longbine of Emporia and Kansas State Representative 68th District Nate Butler of Junction City were guests at a legislative forum held at the Dealership Building in Council Grove. Former State Representative Dave Baker moderated the forum. Due to redistricting, Senator Longbine will be Council Grove’s senator in June, instead of Senator Wilborn.
Grants from the Young Foundation and the Council Grove Area Foundation recently made possible the purchase of a new permanent public address sound system for Ben I. Smith Field in Council Grove.
The Council Grove 5th Grade Boys wrapped up their season on Saturday, with a first place finish in the Scott Brown Basketball League post-sea- son tournament.
