Bill Downes Presented E. Malcolm Strom Award
At the February 22 meeting of the Morris County Historical Society, held at the Carnegie Building, 303 W Main, Council Grove, President Dave Cosgrove announced the 202324 recipient of its E. Malcolm Strom Award of Excellence., which is an award that is named after the late Malcolm Strom of Dwight. Strom grew up on his parents farms in Morris County, worked in Soil Conservation after WWII, and then returned to Dwight and Morris County to rejoin the community of his youth with his wife Edith. He remained in the community for the next 50+ years. On his 100th birthday celebration in Dwight, the Morris County Historical Society presented its first Award of Excellence to Malcolm, forever naming the Award the E. Malcolm Strom Award of Excellence for community service. Subsequent recipients have been Phyllis Metzger and Bob Strom.
