DEPUTY PROMOTED
DEPUTY PROMOTED -- The Morris County Sheriff’s Office announces the promotion of Alex Wooden to the rank of Corporal. Alex has served the citizens of Morris County for 7 years He will serve as a first-line supervisor during the afternoon and evening shifts. Additionally, Alex serves as a K9 Handler, member of the Morris County drug task force, highway criminal interdiction and Taser instructor.
FHRC New Executive Mike Couch Visited Council Grove
A Flint Hills Regional Council meeting was held at the Dealership Building in Council Grove last Friday. 8 or 9 board members were present, with more attending via Zoom due to the inclement weather in the Manhattan area.
WWII Kansas Military Chapel Honored As National Historic Site
The Latimer Lutheran Church Preservation Society has announced that the former Herington Army Airfield Chapel was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 5, 2024. The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of our country’s historic buildings, districts, sites, structures, and objects worthy of preservation that represent an exceptional aspect of American history. The former Chapel, now located in Latimer, Kansas, was recognized for its architectural significance as it was initially constructed as a Series 800 Type CH-1 Regimental Chapel during the construction of the 1,700-acre Herington Army Airfield near the town of Delavan in Morris County, Kansas in 1942-1943.

Matt Lange of Council Grove is the 2024 Kansas Quarter Horse Association President and Shawn Tiffany of Morris County finished his term as Kansas Livestock President in December and is now chief executive
