Slow Start Flaunts Braves, Lose 72-57

If you take away the Braves first quarter against Southeast of Saline last night, we’re talking about moving on to the next round of substate competition with a 45-44 win. However, basketball is a game of four quarters and the Braves were slow to get off the bus as they were outscored 28-12 in the first period as Southeast of Saline took a 72-57 win to advance, ending the Braves season at 8-13.

Monihen, Doornbos Medal At State Wrestling Tourney

Ace Monihen finished third at 190, and Bradley Doornbos was fourth at 120 at the KSHSAA 321A State Wrestling Tournament Saturday in Salina. They were Council Grove’s only state placers.

Just when you think that our smalltown community theatre put on their best show a year ago with “Steel Magnolias”, along comes “Barefoot in the Park.”
