Evergy Power Outage Affects Many In Morris County

Even with some scholarship amounts untallied, the Council Grove High School Class of 2024 fared well in the awarding of scholarships and grants. The estimated value of the scholarships and grants awarded at Tuesday’s award ceremony exceeds $138,000.
Fifty-Five 8th graders from Council Grove Junior High will be promoted to high school on Monday. The ceremony will be held in the Braves Gym at 7 p.m. CGJSHS principal Jay Doornbos will be an honored speaker. At the Tuesday, May 14, meeting of the Morris County Commissioners, Ryan Young, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, visited with the commissioners regarding donations that the Sheriff’s Office has received in order to purchase a drone for the department. The drone costs approximately $22,000. To date, the Sheriff’s Office has received $12,500 in donations. A grant application has been submitted to fund the remaining cost of the drone and employee training. The commissioners agreed to accept the donations received in the amount of $12,500 and any future donations toward the purchase of the drone.
