Together with Veterans AND Morris County, American Legion Post 121, Council Grove, and VA Eastern Kansas brought together veterans in the multi-county area around Morris County and Council Grove, Kansas on Saturday, May 11.
Interview With Roe Groom -- Part 2
This week’s student of the week at Council Grove Elementary School is Carter Sommer. He is seven-years-old and a student in Mrs. Rowlett/Mrs. Spear’s second grade class. Carter says he likes to play football and likes Chiefs and K-State football and basketball. His extracurricular activities include basketball, baseball and soccer. His favorite non-school thing to do is art. Carter has one sister and three brothers.
The Council Grove High School Golf Team competed well yesterday at the 3A Regional Golf Tournament held at Salina-Great Life Golf Course and hosted by Southeast of Saline, but couldn’t cut enough strokes to make it as a team to the 3A state tournament Drew Buchman, ranked second in 3A State by the Kansas Golf Coaches Association, finished as regional champion shooting a 4 under 67. Buchman added his sixth win of the season and broke the league’s scoring record shooting a 6-under 65 during the Flint Hills League Meet held recently. Trace Adams earned 10th place medalist with a 83. The two will represent the Braves at the 3A State Golf Tournament starting Monday in Emporia.
