Four Mile Residents Meet to Organize

Most small communities once associated with one-room schoolhouses have vanished from our rural landscape. Even though Four Mile school closed in 1965, the diverse group of residents along the more than 15 miles of Four Mile Creek just south of Council Grove, still identify as a community. At one time the name Four Mile was associated with a school, a 4-H Club, Sunday school, a creek, an EHU (Extension Home Unit) and a cemetery.
