MCHA Blood Drive Set For October 14
The Morris County Hospital Auxiliary and CBC-KC’s October Blood Drive will be on October 14. The Blood Drive’s focus this autumn will be on “October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Kaw Mission Council On Grounds October 6
Pete Bethke a blacksmith at Fort Larned National Historic Site will be the October 6th Kaw Mission Council Lecture Series “Westward Expansion.” Bethke program is titled “1860’s Blacksmith.” He has been blacksmithing for approximately 40 years. It started as a mid-life crisis. His wife Linda & Bethke were involved in the Rocky Mountain Fur Trapper Rendezvous & to make gas money, he made items to sell for gas money. He did custom work for about 5 years. He heard that Ft. Larned was looking for a blacksmith and applied for the job. He started there as a volunteer, in 2004 was hired as a seasonal ranger, and around 2019 he became a full-time ranger.

The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. Commissioners David Fox, Jim Barber and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present.
