The Morris County Commissioner meeting was called to order on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 9 a.m. Commissioners David Fox, Jim Barber, and Wayne Kohler were present. Bill Kassebaum, County Counselor, and Chelsey Schmidt, County Clerk, were present. Others present: Billy Kryger- Pastor Berean Baptist Church Kevin Leeper, Morris County Hospital CEO, gave a report on Morris County Hospital. Financial reports as of September 30th, 2025 were presented and reviewed. Discussion was held regarding amending/updating the Morris County Hospital Board by-laws; the item was tabled.

A caravan departed Allen at 10 a.m. Saturday and arrived minutes later at the historic Old Allen site at 142 Mile Creek, where a new Santa Fe Trail sign was dedicated. Lyon historian Jan Huston and creative designer Audra Agin spoke to a crowd of about 30, highlighting the sign’s updated design and improved historical information.

Chase County will usher in the holiday season Thanksgiving weekend when A Chase County Country Christmas returns on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29, 2025. The two-day celebration, coordinated by the Chase County Chamber of Commerce and supported by local businesses, features long-time traditions, new activities, and festive downtown lighting in both the Strong City and Cottonwood Falls communities.
