Farm Bill has been extended one year

The federal funding package that reopened the government includes a one-year extension of key 2018 Farm Bill programs, many of which expired on September 30 or were set to lapse by year’s end. While the extension prevents immediate disruptions for farmers and ranchers, agricultural groups say the stop-gap measure falls short of the long-term stability producers need.

Strikes Deer

Jayden Picolet, 17, Council Grove, was traveling eastbound on November 4, in a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500, when he struck a deer that entered the road from the south ditch. Picolet was wearing a seatbelt. The location of the accident was not stated in the report from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department.

JH Braves enjoy wins against Wabaunsee and Osage City

The Council Grove Junior High Braves boys’ basketball teams played two away contests, beginning with a matchup against the Wabaunsee Chargers on Thursday, followed by a full three-game slate against the Osage City Indians on Monday evening.
