Kansas House Speaker Dan Hawkins, a Wichita Republican running for state insurance commissioner, has removed several fellow Republicans from committee leadership for refusing to sign a petition calling a special legislative session to redraw congressional boundaries and weaken Democratic U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids’ reelection chances.
Duane Blythe, 61, White City, was traveling northbound on Hwy. 4 on Nov. 1, when a deer came out of the west ditch. Blythe was unable to avoid striking the deer, causing damage to his 2022 Toyota Rav 4. He was wearing his seatbelt and drove the vehicle to his home.
The Morris County 2025 4-H Achievement Banquet was held Sunday, November 2 at the Morris County Fair building to honor the achievements of Morris County 4-Hers during the 2024-2025 project year. Castyn Andres served as the Master of Ceremonies. Riggen Parker gave the invocation, after which attendees enjoyed a meal catered by Ricky’s Cafe. The began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Elijah Schrader and 4-H Pledge led by Haylee Nielsen.
The Council Grove Junior High School boys’ basketball teams opened their season at home on Monday against Chase County with commanding performances across all three games, earning victories in the A, B, and C contests.
Council Grove native Dr. Jody Buller will soon return to her hometown to reopen the local optometry office, bringing with her a fresh start for eye care services and a strong sense of community connection.
