Washburn University has announced that Jessica Filkin, Wilsey, and Garrett McCreath, White City, placed on its President’s List for the spring 2025 semester.
Two attorney firms have been hired to manage the sheriff’s sale promotion for two Council Grove properties. The firms have advertised the sale in the Prairie Post but not the Council Grove Republican.
The 2025 USD 417 All-School Reunion was held Saturday – June 28, 2025, at the Morris County Fair Building. The meal was catered by Kathy’s Herb & Spice and The Tipsy Gypsy Traveling Tavern provided alcoholic beverages. The evening’s music was provided by Rich Sounds.
Today, Monday, June 30, 2025, marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Council Grove Republican. Starting with this issue, the newspaper will be printed by Seaton Publishing in Manhattan, following more than 20 years of working with Osage Graphics in Burlingame. Sadly, Osage Graphics closed its printing operations on Friday, June 27.
KEN BERRY 12U REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS -- The Flint Hills Tropics won the regular season 12U softball league at Ken Berry in Topeka. The Tropics posted a 14-2 record and will either be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the upcoming post-season tournament after the 4th of July. Built on teamwork, consistency, and all-around effort, the Tropics delivered strong performances on both sides of the ball throughout the season. From dominant wins to hard-fought battles, the team proved to be one of the most well-rounded squads in the league. Anchored by reliable pitching, aggressive base running, powerful and timely big hits and steady defense, every player on the roster played a critical role in the team’s success.
