After more than three decades in education and six years of dedicated leadership in USD 284 Chase County, Glenna Grinstead officially retired as District Superintendent on July 1, 2025. Her decision marks the closure of a 31-year journey in public education, including nine years as a superintendent and many more as a teacher and principal. Grinstead leaves behind a legacy shaped by her deep commitment to students, her thoughtful leadership during legislative and cultural shifts, and her unwavering love for the Chase County community.
To prevent flooding downstream in the Tulsa District drainage basin, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released limited amounts of water over the past several weeks. As a result, water levels at Council Grove Lake have remained more than six feet above normal, leading to the flooding of several campgrounds. Water is now being released but cleanup and repair efforts are ongoing.
