Since stepping into her role as Herington’s designated Rural Champion in October 2024, Schlesener has brought energy, structure, and a collaborative spirit to a community hungry for connection and momentum.

White Memorial Camp is now enrolling up to 55 local kids for Local Kids 2 Camp (LK2C), a three-day, two-night summer adventure filled with laughter, new friendships, and meaningful faith experiences. The session runs July 18–20 and welcomes students entering 4th through 6th grade this fall from USD 417, White City schools, and the local homeschool community.
The Wall That Heals will be on display in Emporia August 14–17, and as part of the exhibit, local Vietnam Veterans who died after returning home are eligible to be honored as part of the In Memory Honor Roll display.
