In March 2023, former Council Grove resident Alan Essington and nearly 30,000 other bicyclists participated in the Cape Town Cycle Tour in Cape Town, South Africa. Essington’s wife Marianne participated as a race Marshall as part of the local Hout Bay Rotary Club support of the event.
Tracy Henry, Executive Director of Greater Morris County Development Corporation announced Thursday that Maria Ochoa has been named Executive Director Assistant. Ochoa says in a statement that she has lived in Council Grove all her life. She is a 2018 graduate from Council Grove Junior/Senior High School and has been attending Kansas State University, where she is now a senior who scheduled to graduate in the fall of 2023 with a degree in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Human Resources. Ochoa will have a minor in Entrepreneurship, as well Leadership.”

Marketplace 29 A.D. is the theme for the Vacation Bible School that the First Congregational and the United Methodist churches of Council Grove are offering to the children of the community 9 to 11:30 a.m., June 13, 14, and 15. This unique experience is for children from age 4 to those who have completed 5th grade.
