Fort Riley’s Annual Retiree Appreciation Day To Be Virtual

Fort Riley’s annual Retiree Appreciation Day will be virtual again this year; however, Irwin Army Community Hospital will offer immunizations October 23 for military retirees of all branches. The drive-through shot clinic for military retirees, their spouses, dependents and surviving spouses will take place in the lower parking lot at Irwin Army Community Hospital from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 23. Ongoing COVID mitigation efforts led to Retiree Appreciation Day being a virtual event with the drive-through shot clinic on Oct. 23. Immunizations available include the annual flu shot, Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis, and shingles vaccines, as needed. In addition to the immunizations, participants will be able to get information on several areas of interest for retirees and learn more about the services available to all military retirees in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota, the four states served by the Fort Riley Retirement Services Office.

Council Provides Support For Housing Study, Approves Committee Recommendations

Greater Morris County Development Corporation Executive Director Tracy Henry addressed the Council Grove City Council on Tuesday, stating that the GMDC was committed to a housing study for Morris County beginning in 2022 and that she had spoken with RDG Design and Planning to perform the study. RDG has previously worked on the Kansas housing study, as well as Dickinson and Lyon counties, which Henry said will make performing the Morris County study more cost effective. The study would begin after the first of next year, said Henry, and would be completed most likely by mid or late March. Henry said such a study would allow for Council Grove to apply for more types of federal grant funding.
