Mark Brooks, Site Administrator, of Kansas State Historical Society’s Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store provided the program Sunday afternoon for the first Kaw Mission Council of 2022. He detailed the immense work involved in the restoration and reinterpretation of the Kaw Mission and unveiled plans for the Last Chance Store.
The USD 417 Board of Education voted on Wednesday to continue a mandatory masking policy for students and staff for one week following a Tuesday vote by the Morris County Commissioners to end the county’s mask mandate. The vote will also introduce what has been termed by the board as “Option B,” a criteria for making masking optional determined by positive COVID-19 case rates in each building. The board will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, to discuss the positive case percentages that should be used for each district building to determine whether masks should be optional, strongly encouraged, or required.
The first thing one notices when visiting Kansas Graphics in Cottonwood Falls is the feeling of family. That is to be expected considering that longtime owners Marvin and Vicki Adcock and Ron and Jane Scott are related by marriage, with Vicki and Jane being sisters and Marvin and Ron brothers-in-law. John French, who purchased the Kansas Graphics last summer, said that the family tradition was, in part, what attracted him to the business.

Brothers-in-law, Marvin and Ron have created a family environment at Kansas Graphics that the Frenches are eager to continue.
The Morris County Health Department has reported an increase of 74 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 within the last 5 days. This has increased Morris County’s testing percent positivity to 57%. The current vaccination rate of Morris County residents is 53%.
