John and Linda Cosgrove and Darrel and Rhonda Bryant recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couples were married in a double wedding ceremony at the Council Grove United Methodist church on January 8, 1972. Father James Hoagland and Reverend Verne Buttermore officiated the ceremony.
Farmers State Bank, 624 Main St., Dwight is celebrating 101 years of business this month. With the bank’s founders pursuing the idea of a bank in 1920, the bank opened on January 13, 1921. Bank officers at that time were C.W. Johnson, president; O.J. Flack, vice president; H.R. Johnson, cashier; and E.T. Beck, assistant cashier. It has remained in the same location on the south side of Main Street for all 101 years.
The Tuesday, January 11, 2022 meeting of the Morris County Commissioners meeting proved to be contentious with sixteen individuals present in the meeting room of the Court House.
