A summary of Tuesday’s Morris County Commissioner meeting includes a report about the completion of the 2023 county chip seal. The county patched and chip sealed approximately 30 miles. The cost per mile for the 2023 chip sealing was approximately $27,600 per mile, not including labor/salaries.

Cristine Sundquist has studied drawing, painting, and photography from the age of 12. She will be bringing her expertise to Council Grove where she will be leading an Adult Oil Painting Workshop, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., October 5, 6 and 7 at Alexander ArtWorks, 120 W Mian, Council Grove. The Council Grove Arts Council is sponsoring the workshop. A few workshop spots remain. Workshop fees are $250. She later studied Fine Arts and Art Education at the University of Kansas. More recently Cristine has continued her education with Kim Casebeer, Phil Starke, and Marla Baggetta, among other award-winning artists. Her appreciation for the uniqueness of people, as well as landscapes, is conveyed in each portrait or landscape painting. Cristine has a constant fascination with solving the problems of light, composition, and color in each painting and drawing endeavor.
