DETOUR-State detour signs have gone up on Main Street with the first phase of construction on K-177 north beginning on Monday. During this phase, K-177 will be closed for approximately 7.7 miles from Ave L, north of the Council Grove reservoir, continuing north to halfway between the K-4 junctions. K-177 is scheduled to reopen in the fall of 2022. The final phase of reconstruction for K-177, from halfway between the K-4 junctions to I-70, is scheduled to begin in March 2023 and reopen in the fall of 2023. The state detour routes motorists west toward Herington on US-56 Highway and north on U.S.-77 Highway. KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a work zone. Check kandrive. org for updates and more information.
BRAVES ON TRACK-The Council Grove Braves Track team will begin their season on April 1 at Chapman. The team returns with state medalists Jordyn Picolet and Lakoddah Downes, as well as three-quarters of last year’s state qualifying 4x100 relay team.
