The Council Grove City Council met for its second meeting of the month Tuesday night. During the consent agenda, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved and appropriations in the amount of $49,057.98 were approved.

The Morris County Historical Society, in conjunction with Humanities Kansas, will hold its fall program at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 26 at the Carnegie Building, 303 W. Main, Council Grove.
The Reinecke Agency Farm Bureau and Morris County Kansas Farm Bureau will be offering free Harvest Sack Lunches for Harvesters. The lunches will be distributed from 11 a.m.
The proposed Jan. 21, 2024, postage increase for community newspapers is nearly four times the rate increase proposed for other users of the mail. In an announcement last Friday, the United States Postal Service announced it expected a 7.3 percent increase for the local Within County mailing rate for newspapers.
