The Council Grove Junior High Braves football team hosted Remington for their final game of the season Thursday night. It was a game of back and forth with both teams struggling to put together a scoring drive on offense.

This week the Council Grove Rotary Club approved the donation of $15,000 to the CG Pickleball/Tennis Court Renovation Fund, which is a fund managed by the Council Grove Area Foundation. On Monday the USD 417 Board of Education donated $20,000 to the fund. Rotarian and businessman Tim Tyner made presentations to both organizations.
Steve Fugate, who the Council Grove Republican covered this summer as he walked through town on his quest to walk from Vero Beach, Florida to Newport, Oregon to bring awareness to mental health and to “mend the broken heart while it is still beating”, has given up his quest. Fugate, who is 77, had reached Medicine Bow, WY when he came to the decision to abandon his walk.
