Elle Dragone Receives Hagan Foundation Scholarship

Council Grove High School senior Elle Dragone has been selected as a National Hagan Foundation Scholarship recipient. The scholarship is worth up to $48,000 to students planning to attend four-year colleges and aims to help students graduate debt-free. The scholarship includes free workshops, a Schwab brokerage account and study abroad opportunities that help to impart skills not typically covered in school settings.

This photo was captured by Christine Nelson. Nelson says, she “was just capturing a moment of pure joy and happiness,” as her and Tyler Nelson’s children Grady Nelson, age 1, and Mia Nelson, age 3, shared the delight of a new snowfall with each other.

WAGON PARK

WAGON PARK

WAGON PARK-As a followup to our report three weeks ago about the removal of the covered wagon from its place near the Main St. bridge for maintenance and repair, the Council Grove Rotary Club has announced its proposed plans to landscape and enlarge the area as a destination stop for visitors in Council Grove and along the Santa Fe Trail. In addition to a historical narrative, the site will include a photo opportunity site, along with the restored wagon. If anyone is interested in helping with this project, join the Facebook site Council Grove Volunteers and look for work notices, which will be posted.
