LADY BRAVES -- Jessica Filkin prepares to throw a pitch on Tuesday during the Lady Braves Softball team’s opening season match-up against Marion. Filkin would strike out 15 of the 24 batters she faced on the day, while surrendering zero runs on two hits and zero walks. The team would get a 6-0 win over the Warriors. Mija Carlson led the team from the plate with two hits on three at-bats. The team will be back in action tonight at home against Central Heights.

CGAF Renames ‘Bosch Scholarship Fund’ To ‘Paul And Janis Bosch Scholarship’

The Council Grove Area Foundation (CGAF) has announced that the Paul Bosch Scholarship has been renamed as the Paul and Janis Bosch Scholarship. The Paul and Janis Bosch Scholarship was established to provide an educational opportunity annually to a Council Grove High School senior pursuing a college degree, in memory of Paul and Janis Bosch.

SENIOR TEAM

SENIOR TEAM -- The 4-H Senior Horse Judging team of (l-r) Gavin Carson, Ian Effland, Mandy Wainwright and FFA Member Macy Bolen competed at the EquiFest Youth Horse Judging Contest on March 18 in Salina. The senior team took fourth place in the contest.

CGAF Announces Jordan Kelley Memorial Scholarship

The Council Grove Area Foundation (CGAF) has announced its newest scholarship fund, the Jordan Kelley Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2021 following the tragic loss of Jordan Kelley. The Council Grove Softball Club, with help from the community, established this scholarship in her memory and it will be awarded yearly to a White City or Council Grove High School graduating senior or alumni student. While the scholarship fund has been endowed, the Council Grove Softball Club committee plans to hold an annual adult co-ed tournament to increase the value of the fund.
