Valerie’s Gifts & Such To Close As Valerie Steps Into Retirement

For those who missed seeing an important announcement from Valerie Woodall in Tuesday’s Council Grove Republican, today we report the good news that Valerie Woodall will finally be able to enjoy retirement years, as there is much that she and her husband Jeff would like to do. Woodall is retiring, and since no suitable buyer has been located for her store Valerie’s Gifts & Such and its buildings since she posted them for sale in 2021, she will be closing the store by late spring, if not sooner. Many of us will grapple with the idea of shopping without Valerie’s Gifts & Such. The store has been a favorite shopping place for 39 years, either as Woodall’s mother’s store Eleanor’s Card and Party or Valerie’s Gifts & Such. The exquisite assortment of gifts and household items attracts local shoppers and those from Emporia, Manhattan, Junction City, Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City. Those visiting from other states and countries find their way to Valerie’s, too. The superb staff brightens our day and the community is “spoiled” with the free gift wrapping the store offers.
