Nearly one third of a block of downtown Council Grove changed hands Friday afternoon as Alex Reinecke, owner of the The Reinecke Agency, an agent for Farm Bureau Services, purchased 211, 213 and 215 W. Main from Valerie and Jeff Woodall. The location is the former location of Valerie’s Gifts & Such.

The Morris County Republican Precinct Committee reconvened on Thursday night. When former Morris County Sheriff Jay Simecka, a Republican, announced his resignation effective August 1, the committee met but recessed without nominating an interim sheriff until after the Primary Election, which was held on August 6. Thursday night they nominated Scott Coover to replace Jay Simecka as sheriff.
