Kansas' Noxious Weeds
- A non-native perennial in the morning glory family with arrowhead-shaped leaves and white to pink bell-shaped flowers. This Eurasian plant is found throughout Kansas and spreads via a fleshy root system and by seed.
Drew Buchman Wins Herington Tourney; Team Places 2
nd The Council Grove High School Braves golf team traveled to Herington on Tuesday and competed in the Herington Invitational Golf Tournament. The Braves competed well in windy conditions. Drew Buchman shot a 34, 38 to finish even with a 72 to win the tournament by 8 strokes. The Braves team earned a second place finish, with both Landon Dody and Finn Gant shooting their personal best.
Blackledge, Lesslie Win At Wamego; Boys Place 3
rd The Council Grove High School junior varsity track team traveled to Wamego Tuesday to compete in their second meet of the season. The meet included Wamego, Tonganoxie, Abilene, Chapman, Riley County, Eudora, Rock Creek, Clay Center, Flint Hills Christian, and St. Marys. Council Grove’s boys placed 3rd overall in points and the girls placed 8th.
MCCD Giving Away Trees April 27 & 28
The Morris County Conservation District, located at the USDA Service Center at 116 Fox Street, Council Grove, has announced that they will be giving away the following trees in honor of Arbor Day (April 28): Redbud, Shumard Oak, Chokecherry, Fragrant Sumac Shrub, Lilac and Black Hills Spruce will be available.
