The USD 417 Board of Education held its regular July meeting on Monday, July 14, at the district office. With Board President Terry Powell and Vice President Patty Talley absent, Jamie Johnson was elected President Pro Tempore to preside over the meeting. Powell and Talley were unanimously elected as Board President and Vice President, respectively, for the 2025–2026 school year.

Corps of Engineers: seeking volunteers

Gary Kepley, Deputy OPM - Kansas Area, US Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District issued an email to the Council Grove Republican on Thursday stating that the Corps is seeking community volunteers to assist with flood debris cleanup.

The USD 417 Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m., tonight at the District Office, 17 Wood St., Council Grove. As the first meeting of the 20252026 fiscal year, the session will include several key organizational matters alongside regular district business and discussion of upcoming initiatives.
