The Eastern Kansas Horseman’s Association ended the season with their year-end awards banquet in Concordia. Shows were held throughout the summer and year end points were calculated. High point and reserve high point buckles were given to each age group.
Trail Days Café and Museum, 803 West Main St., is hosting a special Veteran’s Event at noon on Saturday, November 12. Vietnam War veteran and Agent Orange survivor David Euler will be guest speaker. Homemade noodles and beef, mashed potatoes, corn, wheat bread, apple pie and coffee or tea will be served. The event is a fundraiser for Trail Days Historic Site, with a suggested donation of $30. Tuesday the Morris County Commissioners approved a proclamation to support the “Stepping Up” Program. Local mental health partner Crosswinds has hired a new staff member to manage the Stepping Up program.
Caney Valley (8-2) handed Council Grove a 16-3 defeat last night in Caney to move on to the sectional round of the KSHSAA 2A state playoffs, ending the Braves’ season at 7-3.
