Dennis DeLay Memorial Youth Essay Contest

In 2020 the Hunter Education community lost a devoted member and passionate educator. Mr. Dennis DeLay served as a volunteer instructor for the program for over 45 years. In fact, Dennis had served the program and the hunting community since inception of the program in 1973. He taught generations of hopeful hunters, teaching in approximately 75 classes and certifying nearly 1,800 students. He was the face, the steward, and the heart of the program in our community for so many years.

Heart Of The Flint Hills Holds Annual Meeting

The Heart of the Flint Hills Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association met Thursday, Nov 17 at the Dealership Building for their annual meeting. The meal was catered by El Rancho Viejo to about 30 attendees. A business meeting was conducted, including election of officers for 2023 and discussion of the 3-day Symposium to be held in Council Grove in Sept 2025. 2023 officers include Mark Brooks, president; Clarence Sumner, vice-president; Jan Sciacca, treasurer; and Reba Sumner, secretary.

JH Girls Win 32-23

The Council Grove Junior High Lady Braves enjoyed a decisive win at Central Heights on Monday. The final A Team score was 32-23. The win was a team effort with scoring by Whitlyn Mullen (17 pts.), Anna Balboa (6 pts.), Lucy Palmquist (4 pts.), Bailey Blosser (2 pts.), Hannah Peterson (2 pts.) and Capri Gant (1 pt.)
