USD 417 lifters had a great day at Conway Springs on March 11. The district took a total of 13 kids to the meet - 4 in the junior men’s category (7th, 8th, 9th), 3 in women’s, and 6 in men’s. Junior men took 2nd out of 21 teams. Women took 10th out of 25 teams. The men took 8th out of 26 teams. The lifters competed in 5 categories. Bench, squat, clean, overall, and ratio. Points are awarded for 1st-6th place.
TOPEKA – Monday, Governor Laura Kelly announced the release of the largest, most comprehensive cancer prevention and control plan in Kansas history. The plan outlines how the State will allocate resources over the next five years to prevent cancer and reduce the disease’s burden on Kansans who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families. It includes proposals to bolster the health care workforce, increase early detection, expand providers’ understanding of the span of resources available to patients and survivors, and reduce unhealthy behaviors.
