EMPORIA -- An Oklahoma man was hurt in a wreck early Monday in Chase County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 24-year-old Zachary Hurley of Norman, Oklahoma, was hurt and taken to Newman Regional Health after the crash between the Matfield Green service exit and Flint Hills cattle pens, about 22 miles southwest of Emporia, right at 1 am.

Jesse Knight, who works in the supply chain at Alkegen, was the guest speaker at the Council Grove Rotary Club on Wednesday.
The Council Grove Republican’s Easter Shopping Trail Contest starts today and lasts through April 4. This is the second year for this fun scavenger-type contest that takes the shopper into participating merchants to look for an Easter Codeword such as Jelly Bean, Chocolate, Peep, Resurrection, etc. For the shopper or contestant, the game takes you into stores you may not frequent often or at all. For the participating merchants, the contest entices guests, new and old, to visit the establishments to see what is new and exciting. There is no cost to play the game.
Council Grove is gearing up for the 2023 season. Eight of the Braves top nine hitters return and the four pitchers who attributed to 115 of the 131 innings pitched last season are returning.
