OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Rural America lost more population in the latest census, highlighting an already severe worker shortage in the nation’s farming and ranching regions and drawing calls from those industries for immigration reform to help ease the problem.
A USDA/TEFAP Commodity Distribution will be held on Wednesday from 3-4 p.m. at the Council Grove Recreation and Events Center. The distribution will be done in a drive-thru format. Proxy forms will need to be filled out if a recent form has not been completed. Proxy forms will now be completed once per year instead of individuals signing each time.
Morris County Youth Rodeo Scholarships have been announced for the 2021-2022 school year. Those receiving scholarships were: Chancy Johnson, White City, $750; Michelle Patry, Dwight, $500; Jaycie Swisher, Council Grove, $500; Claire Bankes, Council Grove, $500; and Shyanne Allen, Council Grove, $500.
The Council Grove City Council will meet on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Old business will include an update on the North Riverwalk extension project. New business will include a department head report and an executive session on the City Lake.
Bus routes have been announced for the upcoming school year. The district notes that stop times are subject to change at any time and that parents/guardians should call the district office at 620-767-5192 for any questions or concerns about the bus routes.
